There are several Java implementations of the Crypt() function floating
around. That will let you generate a crypted password. There's one at
http://208.223.9.21/jfd/crypt.html which seems to work.
However, it sounds like you may be more interested in interacting with the
LDAP server itself (creating new records? authenticating a user?). For
this, I suggest taking a look at the JNDI documentation for a start. It's
covered a bit in Java Enterprise in a Nutshell, and there are a number of
good books on LDAP that shold be helpful, including one from Wrox (although
I'm blanking the title/author right now).
