I think both terms have the same meaning  of caching the the database connections.In 
oracle implemenatation  ConnectionCache object refers to the pool of connections which 
are all connected to the same datasource. So when u setup your pooled datasource ,you 
have to specify the database url,user name and password. This pooledconnections are 
all physical connections to the database.So when you use this pooledconnections with 
you connectionCache object it returns the logical handle to these physical 
connections. So whatever the getconnection and closeconnection methods you are calling 
are internally calling the methods of pooledconnections.

I also have confusion like why they have defined two terms like connectionpool and 
cachedconnections.
