Depending on what you (or your client's) plans are, you may consider
EJB.
_Many_  things are done for you, it's (kind of) easy to start with, but
hard to master.
There has been a long thread going on about it
(advantages/disadvantages) on the advanced java forum.
The thread just recently started (see, you don't have to feel bad about
it, almost all of us are beginners, at least I am...).
