what servlet engine are you using? There is an application server called
Dynamo from ATG which has precisely the things you are looking for. It is
called relational views system. Even though a application server might be a
little too costly for your purpose, you could take a look at the product
and bulid something like that on your own. You can get a 30 day evaluation
copy free from their site
