Setting the timeout to 0 indicates no timeout - therefore it is set to
MAX_INT (closest it can get to infinity). Setting timeout to 1 is the
lowest you can go I think.

Looks like this isn't true. We don't call getSession
anywere in our code and still the cookie appears every time
the application is used.
Also, to correct my own mistake - it looks like ServletExec
doesn't allow setting of the timeout to 0. When it is set
manually by editing the web.xml file the GUI shows MAX_INT.
Same when it is attempted to set the timeout to 0 via the GUI,
"submit" simply rewrite the field's value to MAX_INT.
