If you look back over the last day's messages, this was just discussed : Core Servlets is the more up-to-date, but there's a new edition of Jason Hunter's book in development. I've personally never read Hunter's book, but I'd recommend Marty Hall's one (as did some of the earlier postings). It seems they're both well-regarded, just that Hall's is a couple of years more modern.
