Are you asking why it's strongly suggested that you override doGet()
and/or doPost() and not service()?  This has been discussed on this
list pretty well in the past.  Basically, the default service()
includes a lot of functionality that it's silly to throw away; that's
not the case for the default doGet() and doPost() -- in fact, all they
do is say "This HTTP method not implemented", so if you don't override
them, your servlet won't be able to handle that type of request.
