Ben,
I agree to Prashant's solution. Another solution will
be simpler than that. You can just redirect from your
index.html to the url which will contain your servlet
name and call your servlet... so your redirected url
will be like this...
http://www.yourdomain.com:port number/servlet/yourserservlet
