Partha is foolish for asking the question - why can't you spend 5
minutes looking for the answer?

Vikram is foolish for answering with the WRONG answer.

It IS possible to write servlets without jsdk.jar.

You DO need servlet.jar and a servlet engine.

Some examples of servlet engines are:

- JSDK
- Apache JServ
- Tomcat

Most servlet engines will come with servlet.jar so you don't need to
worry about getting it independantly.
