BAD experience with iPlanet. We had 4.0 and then 4.1 (in order to run JSP 1.0). Most
of the time it could only open 48 concurrent sessions and wouldn't go for more. There
was no rhyme or reason to this glitch. The people from company are
unresponsive and unhelpful so we switched to Apache and Jrun 3.0 (we have license for
it already). Currently the problem at iPlanet is being escalated but it's their
problem to get our business back.
Besides the limit on concurrent sessions it was horrible in trying to set up using the
web based administrator. DON'T USE IT. It truncates values for JDK classpath. Also
they do not support any other version of JVM than the one they ship with
(JRE 1.2.2 I believe).
I would be interested to find out other people's reaction to this server and whether
someone had the concurrent session problem (only 48 or 49 sessions).
