well i'd like to differ with Dario in saying that 2 apache servers can be
run on the same system but they have to run on different ports. its as good
as having virtual hosts( which of course is a much better way of doing it,
as Dario has said).
and since your application is an internet app( i assume) in that case u
should be running all your servers on port 80 so that the user does not have
to define the port no.
so actually u dont have a choice of either virtual hosts or 2 apache servers
on the same system since in both the cases u'll have to have a port other
than 80.
and yes 1 computer cant have 2 IPs.

Andras, first of all, you dont need to have two apache servers running on
same computer (and that is not even allowed).
You can setup multiple virtual hosts (see apache doc for info).
The problem about the IP is real, and that really means some ISPs may
restrict you from using more than one IP without a valid excuse. As you
know, IP numbering availability is getting short...

Hi all,
Sorry for buthering the list with this off-topic question.
We are renting some servers in US to host our websites.
We have asked them to give us 2 IP addresses for 1 computer.
(we wanted to have two apache servers on the same comp).
They said that the American laws doesnt' permit to have more than
one IP address for a computer unless we have a good reason.
I said that the reason is to have half our sites in on IP with one
apache webserver and the another half with a different IP serverd by
a second apache.
They refused to give us 2 IP-s.
Can somebody confim that this is realy true according to the
american laws??
I am VERY DISAPONITED becuase a lot of my ideas was based on
2 IP-s.
Also does anybody of you have computers (in US) with more than one
IP??

P.S. when i said IP i ment real IP numbers not intranet IPs like
192.168.0.1.
