Here's a request: Can people who have set up their mailers to do an
autoreply because they're on vacation and/or out of town make sure
they do so in such a way that the replies are not sent out for mailing
list messages? Because I've already received about half-a-dozen such
replies to a message I sent out earlier today. I suspect the people
these are coming from don't even realize it.
I think people who read mail on UNIX systems should be OK, as the
vacation program is smart enough not to send out replies to mailing
lists. The problem is on Windows systems. All of the autoreplies I
received listed "Internet Mail Service" as the mailer. I assume
there's some way to set it, and other Windows mailers, in terms of
autoreply, to handle lists properly. There should be enough
information in the headers of list messages. Or maybe some header
needs to be set on list messages (e.g. "Bulk:" or something like that)
to facilitate this.
Thanks.
