Sorry i'm answering so late :)
I think the problem is on the Excel file: Excel tries to convert any data in
input trying to guess what was user's intent. It's common that strings
containing no alphabetic chars are converted to numbers, and starting '0'
are cut off.
Try to force the 'Format' of Excel cells from 'Number' to 'Text' using the
'Format' menu.
