The "formula one" product that I suggested is 100% java.... and has an
extensive api for reading, and manipulating excel files.  It will do the
job... but may be overkill.

It's a very silly problem. But I have a file upload type servlet that
uploads a csv and parses it to a business object. In order to make
everything very easy for the user (not requiring them to do file > save
as CSV) I was wondering if there was some java solution to convert the
.xls to csv , and then parse.
