Without the details of what you are doing, it is hard to suggest a solution,
but it sounds like somehow you are preventing the browser from url encoding
the input string, in this case, replacing spaces with the '+' character.
Normally, when you submit a form, the browser takes care of this for you.
You may find some help in the URLEncoder class in the java.net package.
