This is also based on the ulimit values of the system.  And yes, you will see an
increase in CPU, memory, disk, etc by increasing this value.  So before you
start increasing MaxClients you may want to look at the horse you are riding
too.

You might want to start out with baby steps on increasing the value, but I would
first check the ulimits, and specifically for file descriptors.
