Gokul has mentioned the new advanced-servlets list here a couple of
times but I don't think we've ever formally announced it.

Advanced-servlets-tutorial is an email list (hosted by egroups) that
is designed to help people attain guru status with servlets and Java
webapps.

The list was created by some of the people who spend time chatting on
the advanced-servlets list. Those of you who are on the
advanced-servlets list will know that it's very elitest - no newbies
tolerated.

The new list is specifically designed to be less elitest and is
targetted at people who are not quite advanced level but who want to
be. Using this new list they can chat amongst themselves and share the
experience of the one or two experts who frequent the list.

We do welcome questions from people but the list is MODERATED so that
questions are kept on topic.

OFF_TOPIC things are generally:

- anything non-web related
- anything non-java related
- specific questions about SQL or mail or whatever
- really basic questions about java or servlets, like "where do I
download the JDK?"

When people are off-topic they will be shouted at and/or removed.
There is no right of appeal.

We also ask that if you post to the list you try very hard to explain
yourself. Questioners who don't explain themselves will be ignored
(and probably shouted at).

You can sign up for the list by sending a mail to:

   [EMAIL PROTECTED]

or, as Gokul has said, you can check the archives regularly at:

Remember: the list is MODERATED and breaking our rules in not
tolerated.
