Alternatively, look at the documentation for your servlet application server
for connection pooling. Most of them have built-in connection pool support.
We recently converted to connection pooling on both our JRun and Weblogic
servers. Once you get the configuration correct, its a pretty simple matter
to change a couple of lines of your servlet code involving the getConnection
call.
JRun was easier to configure as you can do it directly within their admin
tool. Had to fiddle a bit with the Weblogic properties file to get Weblogic
connection pool up.
