Hi,

I'm also studying servlets. The teacher recommended us
tu use orion (www.orion.com) /free for developpement.

Really easy to install: download install copy some jar
file in the right directory, and that's all (see the
website).

Put your .class servlet file in:
/default-web-app/WEB-INF/Classes/.

Now launch a dos window (menu START > RUN > COMMAND)
it will act as a service (daemon in Unix world).
type: cd orion
>orion>java -jar orion.jar
Wait a second and orion will let you know it is
initialized.

Now open your browser and type the url:
http://localhost/servlet/MyServlet
Wait for the Magic!!

(orion runs on port 8080 by default).

Good luck!

Marc
