RSYNC is reliable.  Just shell out to it.  I've used wget and wuftp,
shelling out too.  Do you mean reliable as in it doesn't break?  Or as in,
it's secure.  If you need security you could try scp.  Do you care about
how long it takes to transfer?  What type of line are you transfering over?
Mindterm is a java ssh tool that does scp.  I don't know if you can use the
classes to implement some specialize files tranfering:
http://www.mindbright.se/mindterm/.  You could get a simple ftp bean for
Java (somewhere on the net), and use cksums to check for reliability, not
terribly secure unless over ssh, VPN, or something that handle security.
Sun has ftp support in the net package, but it didn't work last time I
tried it.  The bugs may be fixed now.
