Short answer: You added the cookie to the response,
but got the cookies from the request. The request and
the response are two different things.
Longer answer: If the short answer didn't make you
go "duh!", then you might benefit from a review of
how HTTP works with servlets:

Both have some good info (but does does somebody have a
really good "intro to http" link?) And of course there's
always rfc2616 if you're feeling like a real hacker.
