At http://www.mslinn.com/sites/tomcat I've put up documentation for some of the under-documented aspects of Tomcat, including server.xml, web.xml, authentication realms and the internal javadocs. I've also included online web.xml and server.xml validators. If web.xml has entries in the wrong order, you will experience strange problems, but no error messages will be seen. Hopefully the validators will help you to get your web application going with a little less frustration.
