Hello Ter, I remind I had problems with the acme encoder too. And so I used the JIMI encoder (see: http://java.sun.com/products/jimi/ (there are a lot of documents and FAQ's about JIMI in the web if you have problems). JIMI works fantastic, is easy to implement and has good funktionality.
