Actually no we are not.
Oracle have some neat new(ish)
stuff. We've been getting good
results from their xsqlservlet
environment. As it is in java
we've used it on linux vs a dbase file
 set, and embedded our own java
functions in their XSLT processor.
(oh, and the author has an XML
 forum on technet and an O'reilly book!)
So Oracle isn't such a closed world
anymore. Admittedly it is handy
to know some PLSql, but you
can stick to JDBC if you want.

I've got to agree that their tech
support was rubbish 3 years ago.
