You do not direct output to a frame. You direct input. This means that
direction (or redirection) has to be done from the client, not the servlet.
A servlet has no knowledge of frames. It just send a response to a request,
and it can't send the response to anyone else than the requester. The client
(usually a browser) sends the request when it is intructed to do so. This
can be when the user enters a URL in the address field, or when he clicks on
a link, or when an embeded script asks it to do so, or it may be part of the
HTML code describing a multiframe page. Some of these request origins may
include a target, which can be a client window or a frame. If you want the
response to be redirected to a different frame, you have to instruct the
client to do so, not the servlet.
For example, in HTML :
<a
href='http://www.mydomain.moon/servlet/MyBestServlet?parameters=what_ever_yo
u_want' target='anotherFrame'>Text of the link</a>
When the user clicks on the link, the browser sends a request to the
specified URL. When it gets the response, it displays it in the specified
frame. The response is in no way linked to the frame. It is just send to the
one who sent the request, ie the browser.

First time caller...
Here's an easy one to start with:
How do I direct output to one frame of a multiframe document from the input
(submit, etc) of another frame. Example: "Menu" frame to "display" frame.
Do I have to rebuild the entire multiframe document (I hope not)?
