There is no easy answer to this but normally JSPs are used for the
presentation. Never do the presentation using servlets.

Servlets normally are used as the controller of the web application. You can
also use JavaBeans or Session EJBs.

Access to data is normally accomplish using Entity EJBs, although you can
use also Session EJBs. Data access can be done from servlets, JSPs and
JavaBeans but this is not the best choice.

I recommend to you read the book 'Designing Enterprise Applications with
J2EE' available free at java.sun.com.
