If you feel the need to do this
(i.e. use instance variables in a
servlet) I'd guess you are stuffing
too much into the servlet class
and not delegating enough complexity downwards into single
purpose beans. (been there done
that myself it's a mess to pickup
a year later let me tell you!).
You may also be building in a dependancy on Weblogic's way of
doing things. That's a risk since
they may change it in a future version, or you may need to move
to websphere (or whatever)
