If you read carefully, you will see that comparison is between 1.3 Client VM
and 1.1/1.2 HotSpot VM.

Objet : Sun 1.3.0 Hotspot Client VM outperformed 1.3.0 Hotspot Server VM
significantly

distributed on 1,2,4 and 8 dual-processor Compaq servers running WinNT in
the recent performance tests run by Allaire on their JRun 3.0sp1 servlet/EJB
server with the J2EE PetStore demo app from Sun.

The article:
http://www.allaire.com/Handlers/index.cfm?ID=19588&Method=Full&Cache=Off

This is stated on page 19 and 20 of the
"JRun_3.0_for_Windows_NT_Performance_Factsheet.pdf" doc (follow the "JRun
Server 3.0 Performance Fact Sheet and Sizing Guide" link).

Isn't this exactly what Hotspot Server VM is built for? How can it be
significantly outperformed by the Client VM?

Ideas, anyone?

Sun, any comments?
