I use the following from my application and it worked:
JEditorPane resultEditorPane = new JEditorPane();
resultEditorPane.setContentType("text/html");
try {
        URL url = new
URL("http://www.xyz.com:8080/servlet/demopackage.DBServlet?login=123123";);
        resultEditorPane.setPage(url);
} catch (Exception ex) {
        resultEditorPane.setText("Couldn't create report URL.");
}
