I don't know which IDE you're using, but I believe the ENTERPRISE editions
of three major ones: VA4JAVA, JBUILDER, and CAF all support some kind of
GUI & DAO facility. I've used parts of both JBUILDER and VA4JAVA for
mapping objects to tables; and WebGains owns the Toplink product.
Another solution would to be purchase a third party persistence layer. See
Toplink, CocoBase, JDBCStore, etc.

Subject: DAO coding.
Hi,
I hope this is the right forum for asking this question.
We are using the DAO design pattern
(http://java.sun.com/j2ee/blueprints/design_patterns/data_access_object/)
from
Sun. We have to manually code these DAOs on the basis of the database
fields.
Is there any IDE which supports creation of these DAOs through an interface?
What we are looking at is an IDE/Interface that will allow us to connect to
the
database, give a GUI/Wizard that will allow us to select the columns we want
to
insert/update/delete and then generate corresponding java+SQL code for the
same.
As we are looking at large number of DAOs to code, any help which makes us
proceed is appreciated. Any IDE/Interface which accomplishes even a part of
this is welcome.
Regards
Nitin Goyal
