Hi all,
 
one other way I can think of is by actually writing DLL's and registering it and invoking the c++ functions using the java runtime class..

The only objects and methods etc that you can use with RMI are either
java or CORBA
As far as I know, unless you can somehow first use corba to access your
c++ function you will not be able to use RMI to access it.
However the RMI tutorial is very good and well worth your time.
