I need some guidence from u guys regarding the following operation :
User Search
---------------
I need to develop a User Search program. If a person search for user with
a keyword "steve", search result will show all names starting with steve
from the database. The results can be "steven", "stevenson", etc. etc. The
results can run 1 page or even 10 page with 20 records shown in a single
page at a time. Database is Oracle, results will be displayed in Jsp.
Intermediary will be XML. Query will be issued to the database, results
will be coming as a XML String which will have 20 records. What i have to
do is read from the XML that 20 records and display it in the JSP, if the
user clicks [Next] button once again query will be issued to the database,
20 records will come as an XML String. I have to read those 20 records and
display it in the JSP.
I am using the XML parser that comes with tomcat jaxp.
My key question is :
1) Did any one did this operation before.
If Yes could you give me an example of how to read XML and display it in
the JSP page.
Offcourse this is the way i am going to do it to start with for right
now.
2) Buy if you guys find some flaw with the way i am doing and suggest some
new idea to imporve my
User Search i would be delighted. (For me Speed is an important
factor.)
