I'm going to be a total optimist here and assume
you're talking about generating graphics inside a
servlet, and are running into the problem where
Unix JDK's complain about not having an X server
running.
Check the archives. Use a search term like "xvfb"
and you'll get a bunch of hits. Short version
is that xvfb is a 'virtual frame buffer' that lets
you run an X server without a graphics display.
There are also some alternative graphics libraries
that don't require an X-server. I don't remember
the names off the top of my head, but you can get
details from the archive threads you found with
your 'xvfb' search.
The problem should go away with the next release
of JDK (but it's not out of beta yet, so you're
stuck with the xvfb/alternate-library hacks)
