Hi , 
The Request to the next servlet is either a forward /Redirect . In Case of
forward the client is not sent any response instead The next servlet appends
the response and send it back to client . Specifically in redirect the
Response (302) is sent sent back to the browser which sends back the new
request . May be the applet u made is not intelligent enough to cater 302
response  :) .
