I haven't used a database yet that will accept '' like this. However, I'm not
versed in all databases so I wont say that there aren't any outhere that this
would be acceptable.
However, in most cases this will not work. Changing a string from
I'll be happy
to
I''ll be happy
doesn't fix the problem.
If you escape the ' like \' or use a prepared statement you will be fine.
Another alternative is to use the URLEncoder and URLDecoder classes. This
takes all non alpha-numeric characters not including periods and changes them
into their HTML equivalent. This would convert any possible character or
string that would cause a problem with databases such as escape characters and
such.
