Hi
Can anyone help me to get the serial/parallel ports to run in java?
I tried the example ParallelPrint on page 320 of Java Cookbook by Ian Darwin. it did not work for me. It opens up the window to choose a port and when I choose a port, it does nothing i.e. does not print.
Also, in step 5 of the javacomm API, it says to type:"set classpath=c:\jdk1.3.1\lib\comm.jar;%classpath%" . I have to do this everytime i restart for the examples in ch. 11. Please take a look at the install instructions for javacomm in java.sun.com. It says that if you have a classpath already defined, you have to type the above which implies that you have to do it everytime. What is your experience on this?
Also, (if you do not have java cookbook), I tried the examples SimpleRead and SimpleWrite from java.sun.com. They compile and run ok but do not do anything or print. I wonder if i have to do something to my printer settings in Windows M.E. Do I have to change these settings?
Thanks for your help,
Ken
