you can put images anywhere u want except for the WEB-INF folder (actually u
can but its a whole page to explain how to do that since the folder is
private)
Usually I put it in a folder called images right under my application folder
Once there, it is reference with http://ururl/images/imagename or just
/images/imagename for a relative path.
