I have upgraded to win2000 recently and also freshly installed apache 1.3.20 and
tomcat 4.0. I installed tomcat first and then apache. I remember configuring a
couple of files when I installed previous version of tomcat but this time I did not do
anything other than running those setup files. I think they've been installed
correctly(I hope!) since I can see apache's index.html by typing localhost or
localhost:80 and tomcat's index.html by typing localhost:8080. And I can run examples
provided with tomcat with no problem and make servlet files and view them in Jbuilder.

There IS something strange though with tomcat 4.0. I used to put my servlet class
files in "../webapps/root/web-inf/classes" folder with previous tomcat and I don't
remember creating that classese folder myself. I think it was already there with
previous tomcat. Now with tomcat 4.0, I looked in web-inf folder and there was no
"classes" folder! There was only web.xml file sitting very lonely. I also opened
web.xml file but the content was almost empty. I tried creating classes folder myself
in web-inf and put a servlet class file in that folder but could not load that servlet
in my browser, got an error.

Now, where am I supposed to put my servlet class files? Do I have to configure some
.xml files like last time with previous tomcat? If so, how?

Cheers, June
