This exact question has been asked many times on this list. Do a search on
the archives (see URL at bottom of every post to this list) and I believe
you will find your answer.

Cheers!

I am new to the list and was wondering if anyone could answer a few
questions. Currently I work as a web developer, and while I myself have
worked with Java for a long time on non-web development, my company is a
ASP/Coldfusion shop. As we work on larger and larger websites and projects,
I am beginning more and more to wish for the benefits of Java. I have been
doing a lot of reading and researching into JSP and Servlets, but one thing
I find lacking in my books is comparisons. So my question is this: What can
I tell my boss to show the advantages of JSP/Servlet technology over
ASP/Coldfusion? We already know platform independence and such, but if I'm
going to convince my boss to make the switch, I need some good hard selling
points.
