I don't know if this solves your problem
you probably should use the session.setAttribute method.
Cause session.putValue() is deprecated
            //get the session
            HttpSession session = req.getSession();

            session.setAttribute("SomeObject", obj);

Hi  All,

        i have a serious problem in my applicaiton .

        The work flow is typically like

        After login in, A Login Servlet validates the user and sets two
variables like user_id,role in to session ( using session.putValue( )
method )
        and then depending on role the user is redirected to a new servlet
        redirection is done using reponse.sendRedirect( ) method

        Now my problem is with a single machine.
        This problem machine is a laptop and whenever any user logs in , a
loss of session occurs.

        i tried traking the the flow and i found that session is intact till
the point the servlet is redirected.
        once in the new servlet, the session is null.

        this problem is only with that machine.
        can anybody please suggest any possible causes ...or some settings
with the machine related to session.
        or any settings with IE 5.5 ( the version of browser in that machine
)

        this is a persistent problem and is there for long.
i will appreciate any kind of help
thanks
Rohan
