Title: RE: Tool For compile
Hello,

Take a look at jakarta.apache.org. There you can download a build tool Ant. It is very powerfull. You can compile and deploy your servlets to your servlet container (Tomcat, ...)

In a DOS window (assuming windows environment) change directory to the location where your servlet is.  Now assuming you have a Java Development Kit on your system (if not, download from www.java.sun.com ) set the classpath so that it can read wherever you are by typing 'set classpath="." '.  Now you are ready to compile.  This is done by typing the following:

javac nameOfServlet.java

If you 'dir' your current directory, you should now see a 'nameOfServlet.class' file in the directory.  This is your compiled code.  All java language code is compiled in this way, be it applets, servlets, applications, regular class files of your own...any completely java code.

This is a very simplistic description of the compilation process.  There is a lot more detail to be learnt.  Check either the www.java.sun.com website or I can recomment 'Java in a Nutshell' by O'Reilly press.  Lot's of useful morsels in there. :-)
