servlets get called by clients requests, they process them somehow and they send back a response to the client who called them. so there is no way to redirect the servlets response to some adressee or make a window pop up there. a typical workaround for this behaviour is utilizing applets which reside in each clients machine and which are responsible for communicating with your servlet, that keeps track of the incoming massanges, updating clients data,... a less sophisticated workaround might be to keep each client requesting the servlet periodically and making the response trigger a pop-up if some new message arrived. > Where could i even start looking for the answer? there probably are a lot of (open source) chat applications out there, just type servlet and chat and hit the google-search button. cheers, markus ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and include in the body of the message "signoff SERVLET-INTEREST".
