Servlet/EJB

Sorry for such basics, I am beginning with servlets. When I installed jsdk2.1 and copied servlet.jar to my jdk1.3.1_01\jre\lib\ext directory, my EJB ears did not deploy anymore with the j2ee deploytool. I had to take the jar file out to begin EJB ear deployment again. Of course, there must be a way to keep both functionalities. Can someone help?   Thanks in advance.   Luis.
