Hi , I dont think you need to need your user id to be able to mail thru a SMTP server. I my case I user my mail servlet to send automatic response and i have my web server say some x and my mail server is y in my mail servlet I have specified the host as y and am able to send mail to anywhere. Here my inbox does not come into picture the mail servlet has some parameters like from ( which i set as [EMAIL PROTECTED]) to (which i get from my user database) host (y) subject (ladfjasdl) body(kadjfds adjfhads adfasdf adfasd)
