Ok, this might be the wrong place to ask this question but I'll try anyway.
:)

I am currently responsible for a course at our university called
"Technologies for web applications". The goal of the course is to develop a
web application. The student get to choose an application themself. Somehow
this seems to be a problem for many of them so I need to come up with som
egood examples. I only teach Java Servlets and JSP since our university
teaches Java as the first programming language for all students (thus they
don't have to learn a new language and can focus on the actual design
oftheir application.). Many students choose to develop a simple webshop,
which I find quite boring and the projects won't differ that much (which
also makes it harder to examine their projects since I have to check that
they haven't shared the code between the projects). The project examples
I've come up with so far is:

- Web based community
- Webmail client
- Auction site (ala eBay)

So, please help me to come up with some more project examples that 2-3
second year students can develop in 8 to 10 weeks. There are no other
requirements other than that. It must be complex enough so thatthey get to
know most aspects of web application development, but it shouldn't take
longer than 10 weeks to produce. I'm all out of ideas so please help me out.
If you have any good examples that they may take a look at, please let me
know.

thanks in advance,
