you need to set up a http authentication for the Url FOR THAT...
unless you do that .. you will get the remote user as null.

Subject: Remote User

Hello,

The statement,
request.getRemoteUser() returns 'Null'.
It means I am not authentified. Is it right ..?

If so, how to make authentified ? I am using
Websphere VisualAge 4.0.

Thanks,
Shankar
