If java were strictly interpreted then C++ would be faster. Today's JIT (Just In Time) compilers end up generating native code that in many cases matches (or possibly exceeds) output from a C++ compiler.

Subject: servlet container question
Just curious,
Are all servlet containers written in Java? I know,
Tomcat is. Isn't it faster if written in C++?
