Oooh pain is bad!  What sorts of things is your customer asking for?  I
am not sure I know of too many other ways to accomplish this sort of
task.  And, if it works, then go with it.  I don't think that having
multiple <input type="file"> tags is a bad thing.  After all, that's
just the front end -- what matters most is what is on the back end
processing all the data that is coming in off of the form.

On that note, didn't your customer hire you to take care of the
implementation details (i.e. the technical "stuff" that makes it all
work)?  If they did, then they should cool it and let you do what you
do (write code), while they can do what they do, management and bean
counting (and I'm not talking about Java beans!). :)
