I have seen this in the past and the fix is to re-install the portal.  All 
roads that I have followed to fix have led to this.  I believe the issue is 
that something corrupts in the web content server.  You should only have to 
reload the web content server to fix the error.

Our portal was working fine last week, we came in yesterday after the long 
weekend and now are getting the error below. Smportaltrace is attached also.

I have restarted the IIS site and apppool for the content server with no luck, 
nothing was changed that I am aware of, we are going to restart the whole 
SharePoint server tonight to
 see if that has any magical fix. Only real option I see left is to reinstall 
the portal but that doesn’t provide me with what the root cause of this issue 
is…
 
Can anyone help shed any light on this issue, I opened a support case, but 
seems it is going to take days to resolve with them.
