Find fast, if it is running in the background is probably being launched
either from your startup folder under the start menu, or you can check the
programs that are started at boot by typeing msconfig in the run
dialog. Also under the start menu. Once you bring up msconfig you can turn
off find fast if it is indeed running.

However, it doesn't sound like that's the problem. If you're suffering
from a file locking problem definately turn off find fast since all that
program really amounts to us a resource hog. Your filing system will still
get indexed just fine with out it. You can get rid of the file lock by
deleting the file "lock.sah" in the Seti home directory before updating if
you must.
